Two ways to configure
| Harvestree Toolbox (USB) | LoRaWAN downlink | |
|---|---|---|
| When | Bench commissioning, calibration, maintenance | Limited tuning after deployment |
| Scope | Full configuration and application firmware update | Small subset of parameters per command (not firmware) |
| Software | MOIZ proprietary application | Your network server → FPort 4 |
| Documentation | Toolbox UI and MOIZ support | LoRaWAN remote configuration (downlink guide) |
Toolbox is the normal path for first setup: port measurements, calibration, LoRaWAN join credentials, and alarms. Downlink is for tested, low-risk remote adjustments (periods, mode, radio options) — not a replacement for commissioning.
What is configured (overview)
Settings are grouped logically as:
- Application — mode (Monitoring / Alarm / Idle), periods, voltage limit, measurement type per M8 port.
- Network — LoRaWAN region, data rate, ADR, rejoin (credentials via Toolbox).
- Alarms — system and per-port thresholds, timing in Alarm mode.
- Calibration — per port, after measurement type is chosen (Toolbox).
Measurement behaviour and probes: Measurement ports and Operation.
General workflow
- Connect Toolbox (USB).
- Set up general operation — application mode, measurement types per port, periods, LoRaWAN network join, alarms (Operation).
- Set up calibrations if needed (per port, after measurement types are chosen).
- Verify with calibration or debug tools in Toolbox if needed; confirm uplinks and decoding on the network server (Communication).
- After deployment, use downlink only for changes listed in LoRaWAN remote configuration.
Firmware update (Toolbox)
Application firmware is upgraded only through Harvestree Toolbox over USB (built-in bootloader). It is not updated via LoRaWAN downlink.
This is separate from updating the Toolbox PC application itself (sidebar update check in the software).
When to use it
- MOIZ releases a new qualified version for your hardware.
- MOIZ or your supplier recommends a specific release (for example to use new Toolbox features or align with your network server).
How (overview)
- Open the Firmware update page in Harvestree Toolbox with the device connected on USB.
- Check the Release notes for qualified firmware versions; contact MOIZ or your supplier if you need help choosing the right image.
- Confirm the update prompt.
- Run Start firmware update and wait until Toolbox reports success — do not disconnect USB and do not close the application during the process.
- After reboot: check the reported firmware version, review configuration and calibration if needed, and align the network server payload decoder with the new release if MOIZ indicates a change (Payload decoding).
Precautions
- Prefer a stable USB power supply during flashing (bench setup).
- Install a firmware version qualified for your hardware (see Release notes).
- Keep traceability: firmware version, image tag, date, and operator.
Precautions
- Match each port measurement type with a qualified probe and cabling (Catalog).
- Changing measurement type on a port clears that port’s calibration and alarms.
- Do not provision JoinEUI / AppKey over downlink; use Toolbox.
- Document remote changes (who, when, what) in industrial deployments.
- For energy / autonomy impact of periods and radio, contact MOIZ or your supplier.
